How to Submit

  1. Copy and fill out the form below.

  2. Email your completed application along with your manuscript to info@atticinstitute.com.

2. Genre Selection

3. Writing & Workshop Experience

If you have taken writing workshops or independent studies in the past, please list the instructors, programs, or organizations you studied with.

4. Manuscript Submission

Attach your writing sample as a PDF or Word document according to your chosen genre.

  • Fiction: 20–25 pages (short stories or a novel excerpt)

  • Nonfiction: 20–25 pages (memoir, essays, journalism, or creative nonfiction)

Ambition & Timing

The Attic Atheneum is a ten-month commitment featuring monthly 1-on-1 mentorship and semi-monthly genre group meetings. How is this course of study essential to your current writing goals and ambitions at this point in your life?

Community Engagement

The program includes over a dozen writers participating in community gatherings and study. How do you envision your role as an active, collaborative participant within this cohort and the broader Attic community?

  • Requirements for Recommender: The letter should speak to:

    1. Your dedication to writing and literary community.

    2. Your ability to thrive in both 1-on-1 mentorship and collaborative group settings.

    3. Why you would be a valuable addition to the Atheneum cohort.
